Writer's block is writer's block
As a musician that doesn't really write lyrics or sing, I'm always looking for something vocal to mash up against my music - movie dialogue, poems, spoken word stuff, political speeches, etc.
At first, this just seemed like an interesting poem.
With a huge file of half-thought-out, half-written musical ideas, I know what writer's block feels like. This poem by Drew Roberts expresses that feeling and at the same time speaks to me as though he's speaking directly to a musician who's tasked with setting his words to music - "a thought is passed from mind to mind".
Somehow, Drew's words and his delivery worked really well with something I'd started to write (then abandoned) about four months ago.
